A home baked comfort for Christmas such as these chocolate brownies is always the best thing you can do for your family during this busy festive season. Festive food prices tend to go up as we approach the December holidays. I came up with this recipe to reduce the food expenses I incur in December 😊 and make something delicious for my family without any stress. The whole experience of making food for your family is amazing. I love it when I put smiles on my family’s faces and to do that, you only need a few ingredients. Let’s save money this Christmas and enjoy homemade food!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 200 grams dark chocolate
  • 100 grams dark chocolate for serving
  • 150 grams butter
  • 100 ml milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 80 grams cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 50 grams toasted pecan nuts
  • 50 grams dried figs
  • 100 grams strawberries
  • 200 grams castor sugar
  • 350 grams cake wheat flour

METHOD:

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease the baking tray with canola oil or line a 20cm baking sheet.

Place the chocolate and butter in a small pan over low heat and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.

In a bowl, mix sugar, eggs, cocoa, flour and baking powder. Add the chocolate mixture and mix well.

Pour the mixture into the baking tray and bake for 35-40 minutes. (To ensure that the brownies are well baked, insert a skewer into the mixture and if skewer comes out clean the brownies are baked perfectly.

Serve the brownies with melted chocolate and strawberries.
