You have seen the posts of families making their own Gingerbread house and it looks like quality family time. Kids getting involved, icing the the roof, decorating the sides with ‘fairy light’ Jelly tots and adding some speckly eggs to the garden. It’s just wholesome fun.

Gingerbread House

Make your own DIY Gingerbread house these holidays. Fun for the whole family. Making memories to last a lifetime

Dough Ingredients

Icing Ingredients


  • In a large bowl mix together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and baking powder. Then in another bowl whisk the eggs together with the sugar, water and honey.
  • Mix all ingredients together and knead. The dough will be very stiff but sticky.
    Place dough in the fridge for 3 hours.
  • Heat the oven to 180C.
  • Cut out a stencil of the house, you can download these. Roll out the cookie dough and cut out the house pieces, place on a baking tray and bake until golden brown
  • In a bowl whip the egg whites and then add in the icing sugar. Place in a piping bag and use to glue the house together.
  • I chose to decorate mine first.
